The Looky Book

Eleven puzzles packed into the Kiwi countryside, from Donovan Bixley.

Some books get read; this one gets pored over. Each spread is a busy, colourful New Zealand scene with something to solve: count the numbers hidden among the All Black lambs, spot what the cheeky keas changed on the campervan, find the animals tucked into the bush and match each farmer to their animals.

Then there are the "what's wrong here?" pages — a flying kiwi, a sheep rounding up the dogs, a penguin up a tree — which get the biggest giggles. Little ones can tackle the easy finds now and grow into the trickier ones, and there's plenty of detail to keep grown-ups looking too.

• 11 puzzles: counting, spot the difference, hidden animals, matching and more
