Choosing a Pump

A double pump expresses milk from both breasts at the same time, cutting your session roughly in half and stimulating stronger letdown. If you're returning to work, exclusively pumping, or pumping more than a couple of times a day, a double pump is absolutely worth it.
A single pump suits mums who pump occasionally to build a small stash, or who want to pump on one side while nursing on the other. The INs and INs GEN 2 are both available as single or double — so you can start single and add a second unit later if your needs change.
Non-wearable (The ONE): The pump motor sits outside your body. You connect the breast shields & bottles via tubing. You'll typically stay near the pump unit during your session, though its compact size means you can carry it or put it in your pocket easily. Non-wearable pumps generally offer stronger suction and are often preferred for exclusive pumpers or those looking to build supply fast.
Wearable (The INs, INs GEN 2, Evera): The entire pump — motor, cup, and all — sits inside your bra. No tubing, no external motor. You can walk around, work, cook, parent and live your life while pumping. The INs GEN 2 and Evera close the suction gap with hospital-grade power.
Hybrid (The ONE + Express Cups Plus): Get the power of The ONE with the convenience of a wearable by pairing the two together. The Express Cups sit in your bra and connect to The ONE motor via tubing — the best of both worlds.
The Youha The ONE, The INs GEN 2 & the new Evera all feature hospital-grade suction levels — reaching the suction strength associated with clinical-grade pumps. This is especially important if you're establishing supply in the early weeks, exclusively pumping, or trying to increase a dipping supply.
The INs is a strong everyday performer but sits a step below hospital-grade.

All electric Youha pumps are BPA-free, come with replacement parts to get started, and have replacement kits available at www.momstore.co.nz.
Both are wearable, tube-free, app-controlled pumps that sit inside your bra. The INs GEN 2 is the upgraded model with hospital-grade suction and a stronger, more compact motor — it will give you better output if you pump frequently or are working to build or maintain supply.
The INs is an excellent choice if you pump a few times a day and want an affordable, reliable wearable. Both accept flange inserts (13–28mm) for a personalised fit, and both have replacement parts available in-store. If you can, we recommend stepping up to the INs GEN 2 — the increased suction makes a meaningful difference for most mums.
The Evera ($399) is Youha's newest double wearable pump and our slimmest profile to date, designed to sit discreetly under clothing. Like The INs & INs GEN 2, it's app-controlled and hands-free.
The INs GEN 2 is available as single or double and is a brilliant option if you don't need maximum discretion but want hospital-grade wearable power. The Evera comes with silicone shields in 21mm, 24mm, and 27mm as well as 17mm & 19mm flange inserts. The INs GEN 2 comes with a 24mm breast shield & 22mm flange insert out of the box, with other flange inserts available for a smaller or larger fit up to 28mm.
Choose the Evera for the slimmest possible look under a shirt. Choose the INs GEN 2 if you want single or double flexibility.
The ONE Express Cups Plus ($109) are wearable cup attachments that work with The ONE pump to give you hands-free pumping. They slot into your bra and connect to The ONE motor via tubing, so you get the full suction power of The ONE without needing to hold anything in place.
You don't necessarily need them — The ONE works brilliantly as a traditional pump — but if you want flexibility to pump while moving around, they're a great investment and cheaper than buying a separate wearable pump. They're also compatible with many other leading double pump brands, and available as a bundle with The ONE on our site.
The POD ($44.90) is a wearable silicone breast milk collector — not an electric pump. It uses gentle passive suction to collect milk from your letdown, catching what would otherwise soak into a breast pad. It's a great companion device, especially if you want to save milk from the side you're not actively pumping or nursing on.
The POD is not designed to build or maintain supply the way a pump does, but it's brilliant for maximising every drop during a session.
Yes — The INs, The INs GEN 2, and The Evera all connect via Bluetooth to the Youha app (available for iOS and Android). The app lets you control suction levels, switch between stimulation and expression modes, log sessions, and monitor output over time.
The ONE uses simple on-pump controls rather than an app, keeping things straightforward for at-home use.
The ONE is engineered to be our quietest pump — you can pump at your desk, beside a sleeping baby, or in a meeting room without drawing attention. The wearable pumps (INs, INs GEN 2, Evera) operate at a low hum suitable for most everyday situations. Noise levels vary slightly by suction setting, but all Youha pumps are designed with quiet operation as a priority.
Sizing & Fit
Getting the right flange size is one of the most important factors for comfortable, effective pumping. Measure your nipple diameter (not your areola) in millimetres while relaxed. Your flange tunnel should be wide enough for your nipple to move freely without rubbing the sides — but not so wide that it pulls in a lot of areola.
| Pump | Available shield sizes |
|---|---|
| The ONE (plastic breast shields) | 21mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm (silicone cushions & flanges can be used with these) |
| The INs / INs GEN 2 (silicone shields) | 24mm & 28mm shields + flange inserts 13–26mm |
| The Evera (silicone shields) | 21mm, 24mm, 27mm shields + flange inserts 15–19mm |
| Flange inserts (for use with INs, INs GEN 2, The ONE, Express Cups) | 13mm, 15mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 21mm, 22mm, 26mm [for use with the 28mm shield] |
Flange inserts sit inside your standard flanges to create a snugger fit — great if your nipple size is on the smaller end. If you're between sizes, sizing down usually gives a better seal. Email us at hello@momstore.co.nz and we'll help you size up.
Absolutely. Youha's flange insert range (13mm–22mm) is designed exactly for this — they slot inside your standard breast shields to reduce the tunnel opening for a secure, comfortable fit with smaller nipples. Most Youha pumps come with standard flanges, and you simply add the inserts to customise the size.
Yes. All Youha parts that come into contact with breast milk — including breast shields, cups, valves, membranes, and tubing — are made from food-grade materials. They are BPA, BPS, PVC, and phthalate free. Silicone parts are food-grade silicone; plastic parts are PP plastic.
Using Your Pump
Yes! This is one of the smartest ways to build a milk stash without adding extra pumping sessions. Single wearable pumps (The INs single or INs GEN 2 single) are ideal for this: wear the pump on one breast while your baby nurses on the other. The hands-free design means you're not juggling equipment while feeding.
You can also pair any single pump with The POD milk collector on the nursing side to catch letdown passively — nothing goes to waste.
All Youha wearable pumps (The INs, INs GEN 2, Evera) are rechargeable via USB-C and designed to last multiple pumping sessions per charge. Exact battery life varies by suction level and session length, but you can comfortably get through a full day of pumping on a single charge with typical use. The ONE uses a mains power connection and can also last all day off a single charge.
Yes! The Express Cups Plus are designed to pair with The ONE for hands-free pumping. The cups slot inside your bra and connect to The ONE motor via tubing, giving you the full suction power of The ONE with the convenience of a wearable setup. It's a cost-effective way to get both power and freedom — especially if you already own The ONE, or you can grab them together as a bundle in our store. The Express Cups are also compatible with many other leading double pump brands.
The ONE: Motor unit, Y-tubing, breast shields, connector set, valves, membranes, collection bottles, and power adapter.
The INs / INs GEN 2: Pump unit(s), 24mm silicone breast shields, 22mm flange insert (INs GEN 2 only), collection cups, valves, membranes, connector kit, USB-C charging cable, and app guide.
The Evera: Double pump units, breast shields in 3 sizes, flange inserts in 2 sizes, cups, accessories, and USB-C charging cable.
Check the individual product page for the full in-box contents of each pump.
Care & Maintenance
After every use, rinse all milk-contact parts (flanges, valves, membranes, cups or bottles) in cool water, then wash with warm soapy water.
Air dry on a clean rack — the Youha Ultimate Drying Rack is designed for exactly this. Sterilising parts is optional and not required for items that are only in contact with breast milk. If you're using bottles for formula, or your baby is premature or has high health needs, sterilising may be essential. Steam sterilising or boiling parts for 5 minutes is preferred. Never submerge the motor unit in water. The Youha Cleaning Brush Set makes thorough cleaning of valves, flanges and narrow parts much easier.
Small wear parts lose effectiveness over time and should be replaced regularly to keep your pump performing well:
| Part | Replace every |
|---|---|
| Valves & membranes | 2–4 weeks (more often if pumping 3+ times daily) |
| Connector kit / cups | Approx. every 3 months |
| Silicone diaphragm | 2–3 months or at first sign of wear / decreased pumping output |
| Tubing (The ONE) | At first sign of cloudiness, wear, or damage |
| Breast shields | Every 3 months or sooner if worn through |
If your pump suction suddenly drops, a worn valve or membrane is the most common culprit — replace these first. All replacement parts and kits for every Youha pump are available at www.momstore.co.nz.
Reduced suction is almost always caused by worn small parts, not the motor itself. Work through this checklist:
- Check your valves and membranes — these are the most common culprit. Replace them first.
- Check the connector kit — worn connectors reduce the seal and drop suction.
- Check tubing (The ONE) — any crack, cloudiness, or kink in the tubing will affect performance.
- Check the diaphragm is seated correctly and isn't worn or cracked.
If you've replaced the parts and suction is still low, get in touch at hello@momstore.co.nz and we'll help troubleshoot.
