Ask anyone whose child is deep into magnetic tiles and they'll tell you the same thing: the builds get ambitious long before they get stable. Base plates are the fix. Two 30cm x 30cm plates — one pink, one berry — give every creation a proper foundation, so towers go taller and castles stop collapsing at the exciting part.
The magnet points run right across each plate, which means tiles lock in wherever your child decides the walls should go. Line the two plates up side by side and you've got a generous 60cm build surface: room for a small world, a multi-level dollhouse, a maze, or a whole town with streets between the buildings.
They also make packing up easier. A build on a base plate can be lifted, moved and set down again on a shelf or in a corner — which, on the days when a masterpiece absolutely cannot be dismantled, is worth a great deal.
